My fiance will be applying for her K1 Visa. She previously lived in Japan for over a year after the age of 16. She will have to request for a police clearance from the Japan embassy in the Philippines as required by USCIS. I've contacted the Japan embassy in the Philippines and asked what is their procedure to request for a police clearance. They informed me that my fiancé must bring and present the following documents to their embassy in order to request for the police clearance and that it will take 2 months for my fiance to receive her police clearance. These documents are:

1. A letter from the US embassy in Manila requesting for the police clearance

2. Her valid passport

It is my understanding that in order for my fiancé to obtain the letter (from the (US Embassy) requesting for the police clearance she must go to the US embassy and take with her:

1. A copy of the NOA2 (approved petition) from the petitioner (me)

2. The letter from the US embassy that shows her scheduled k1 interview appointment

3. Her valid passport

My concern is, if my fiance's does not receive her police clearance before her interview date will the US consul still conduct the interview with my fiancé and tell my fiancé to schedule another appointment to return to the embassy with her police clearance? Is she required to have her police clearance on hand already on the day of her interview?

In case my fiancé has to have her police clearance before her interview --

Manila is almost a 2 hour flight from where my fiancé lives and the only way for her to go to Manila is by airplane only. My fiancé and I do not have a problem with purchasing an airline ticket to fly to Manila to get the letter of requesting for the police clearance and then fly back to her hometown then return to the US embassy again, hypothetically 2 weeks later, depending on the time gap between the time she receives her police clearance and her interview date. We will do whatever is necessary and required to complete the K1 process.

Is there an easier way to obtain the letter requesting for the police clearance from the US embassy and can my fiancé request for the said letter from the US embassy by email and receive the letter by email?

If I am incorrect with respect to the steps on how to obtain the letter (from the US embassy) requesting for the police clearance please inform me of the proper way. Please fill me in on these matters and I hope I can get helpful answers to the questions I am asking. I would so appreciate it and thanks

You will need your NOA1, 2 2X2 passport photos, passport and It is also really helpful to bring her alien registration card from Japan. It will make the process a little quicker if she can show it when she goes. They will send you to the Crime Laboratory, Camp Crame, Quezon City for finger printing. They tell you it will take up to 3 months for a final reply with certificate but many have it in hand 30 - 45 days.
