Proof of residence in the USA

Hi,

I read that for the Montreal consulate, I need to prove that my American fiancé resides permanently in the USA. He is an American citizen who does reside permanently in the USA, but he currently lives with his parents, and wants to wait as long as possible before he moves out, in order to save money for when I move in with him.

He has no rental agreement, no mortgage payments, or any "paper" documents that prove that the place of residence is his. What can we bring to the interview to prove that he does indeed reside in the USA on a permanent basis? I heard that the Montreal consulate can be quite picky about these kind of things, and we want to be sure not to get denied at the interview just because he lives with his parents...

I don't know about the Montreal embassy. Hopefully some others can chime in. I'm just thinking of alternative documents that prove residence.... What about pay stubs from work that list the address he currently lives? Cell phone bills, credit card statements, car registration?

You only need to prove domicile in spousal cases where both parties live in Canada together.

I also did something similar (moved in with family to save money). I had lived with my sister during most of the immigration process and it was not a problem.
