Hi everyone, my boyfriend is from US and tried applying for a visa to come out here in the Philippines for 50 days but after days of attempting to call the visa place (which was only redirected to answering machines/busy signal/hung up) he decided not to get one since a friend advised he can get a visa waiver in the PH. so my question is will philipines deny him of entry if he has no visa since his stay is for 50 days? Will they ask him when his return flight is, and ask him to show his plane tickets?

Any input will greatly help us. Thanks in advance!

He can go to Philippines but more than likely he will have to pay a overstay visa amount of 3000php. If you live near cebu, davao, or MM he can try to go in person to get it extended.

Make sure when you wash his cloths you remove the passport first.

A friend of mine had that happen to him, and when he went to leave, the entry stamp was unreadable and he didn't have a copy of the arriving ticket/boarding pass with him, so they charged him for an extended stay and whatever else they could think of - no negotiating.

I have travelled to the Philippines 12 times in the last 3 years and I have never been asked to show a return ticket upon entering the Philippines. I had to show a return ticket from the Philippines to the United States when I checked in for my return flight to Manila when I went to Singapore for a weekend. I have a friend who connects through Malaysia who has to show a return ticket to the airline before connecting to Clark. Remember that what is "required" for entry and what is actually asked for by the immigration officer is not always the same...and things can change at any time.

Concerning the visa. A US citizen gets a 30 day visa upon entering. That can be extended with a visa waiver for an additional 29 days. I did not find the process difficult at all. I think the cost is a little over Php 3,000. Find the nearest Bureau of Immigration office from here: http://www.immigration.gov.ph/index.php/contact-us/other-immigration-offices

If your BF really wants a 59 day Visa issued prior to departure, there are companies that can walk the application into the embassy and have the passport returned in about 10 days. I used to have a 59 day visa prior to the extension from 21 to 30 days. He will be spending a lot of money for this service. Getting the additional 29 day waiver is cheaper and not very difficult. I think it took about an hour when I did it for my son and I.

You get automatic 30 visa upon entry with your US Passport

The same place where you get your passport stamped when entering Philippines you can pay like 4,300 peso and get a 30 day extension.

I don't know if the require to see roundtrip ticket, but many times a round trip ticket is cheaper than a one way.

I have entered Philippines 15 in the last 7 years, I have never been asked to show a round trip ticket, but I have never applied for a Visa Extension either.
