I think gays in TV now aren't portrayed in the same manner of black face. They have multifaceted lives and the actors that play them do so in different ranges.

Do you think the portrayals are realistic, or not? I don't see characters on "straight" TV resembling the LBGT folks that I interact with on a frequent basis, and I have met hundreds, if not thousands of them. Hard to keep count, as usually (not that it doesn't happen on occasion) they are not as flaming as TV usually portrays them.

I live 8 miles from a major resort town that still is the summer destination for the San Francisco LBGT community. You either deal with it, or move. Of course, I also live 15 miles from a not so secret resort that caters to the world's most powerful conservative male leaders. Interesting mix.

I've seen both sides. Some I've met, I had no idea they were gay. Quiet and kept to themselves. Others were full on pink nail polish and drama queens. I think the flaming portrayal is a bit over the top, but in Modern Family, I haven't seen it is being that bad.

Proud of you for admitting that in public. No shame in being Bi-sexual

I'm not bi-sexual. What happens out to sea is completely irrelevant once you pull back in homeport.

Marriages at sea are merely a formality? Does that apply to heterosexual marriages as well, or is that just a Marine-Navy thing?

Before women were allowed on ships, I heard some weird things used to go down. But that's not just with sailors and marines. Folks used to get the business on FTX and deployments as well.
