The consular part is a bit more of a ####### shoot, because it depends on a lot of factors.

Wedding in June and not yet filed? You MIGHT make it - only because you're going through Vermont. But its going to be close.

We are getting marry in June. I live in London, my fiance live in DC. We are assembling the package for submission. Anyone know how long does it take to apply to the USCIS and how long does it take to the US consular in London?

Thank you! What do you mean by Vermont is going to close? Do you mean the timeline is close or the USCIS in Vermont is going to close?

Tracy means that Vermont is typically faster for NOA2 so if you file NOW you might have the visa by June to get married according to your plans. She did not mean close as in go out of business!

It could take anywhere between 4-8 months, and in a few cases more. Honestly, there is really no way to determine how long an individuals case is going to take, and most people would advise that you don't make any solid wedding plans (especially plans that require a deposit). You can risk it if you want to, but if something goes wrong or gets delayed, you might be out a lot of money.

I think most people resign themselves to having a small civil ceremony after entering on the K1, and maybe planning a bigger wedding and reception at a later date after the foreigner is in the US and the AOS has been filed.

Another option is to have the wedding in June, and wait to file for a K-3 or DCF (direct consular filing) after you are married, but this might mean you spend the first few month of your marriage apart. However I don't really know the details about these options.

I think he meant to say it going to be close as in you may get the visa in time.. not as in the Vermont center is going to close down..

Again, to the other posters comment, I think it will be very tight in terms of getting the K1 visa in time especially if you haven't yet filed or are just about to file. It may take longer than 5 months to get the K1 visa especially if there are delays on your application.. just a suggestion.. I would not make definate plans for your wedding until you get a clearer picture on what that time line is going to be..

Good luck

As its the beginning of February you really need to think about filing your application if you want to get married in June. I filed late July 2006 for K-1 and I received my K-1 visa at the beginning of November (just over 3 months in total). Some people wait quite a bit longer than that so by all means keep June as your wedding date but don't be surprised if you have to move the date ! Best of luck.

3-4 page statements aren't going to help you as much as filing that thing AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE and crossing your fingers.

Have you paid for stuff for this June wedding? Did you not check on the times before planning? If you haven't spent money on deposits, you might want to consider an August wedding, just in case.

For your question 18 on teh I-129F you dont BOTH need to submit a statement each 3-4 pages long. They just want to know how you met. People seem to do 3-4 sentences up to 1 page. Feel free to submit all that but it probably wont all get read. Ours was 3 paragraphs and mainly included dates of meeting and visits
