Waiting on EAD & being 1099

Hi...

new to the forum so would be glad of some input.

I'm being 1099'd while waiting for my EAD (needed to do it) my employer is asking about year end & says they can't issue a 1099 without the SSN?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

You have no timeline so we are guessing what you are adjusting from. I don't know why you are working at all if you haven't received authorization (EAD). It doesn't matter if you are an employee, contractor, or taking cash...without work authorization, you can't legally work. And you can't get a SSN until USCIS gives you work authorization. Your employer will just have to wait.
