Hi everyone! I would like to ask if it's fine to travel back to my country with an expiring passport. I am a Filipino citizen, currently waiting for my Greencard (I have EAD and AP already). I will travel back to the Philippines on March 2nd. My passport will expire on April 26th. I am planning to renew my passport while in the Philippines. Will I have any problems boarding on flights? Anyone here who has the same experience? Thank you in advance to anyone who will share some insights.

Being you are flying to the Philippines with a Philippines passport I don't think it will be an issue. The 6 month requirement is for when flying to a foreign country.

Here is answer from OFW article where your same question was answered.

Most countries require you to carry a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the date you leave their country. To avoid inconvenience or delays in scheduled or emergency travel, we recommend that you renew your passport at least one year before it expires. If you are a frequent traveler, we recommend that you renew your passport once you have used up half of its pages.

In her case she is a Filipina flying to the Philippines, not a foreigner.

I read it as most foreign countries require the traveler (citizen or not) to have at least 6 months remaining of validity.

Passport is needed for foreign travel, once in the Philippines there is no requirement for her to leave.... she is a citizen, and a passport is not needed. ;)
