Hi all,

This is my first time helping my dad doing all these visa paperwork to get my sister to come to the US so I need lots of help from any experts in this forum.

I just wish there is a better way to reach the NVC ppl and have them answer all of my questions.. I have been trying to call them at least 10 times today and all I hear is the beeping sound and hang up on me after the beeping sound has stopped. Anyway here are my questions:

1) Since I am the only joint sponsor for my sister, it is clear that I have to collects and provide the NVC all of my Financial documents, so what about the "supporting documents"? Who suppose to provide that? Is it me, the sponsor or my sister who is the applicant?

2) Proof of relationship : Can I submit my and my sister birth certificate as a evidence? Also my birth certificate is in Vietnamese, do I need to have to get someone who certified to translate the birth certificate or can I do it in words on my own?

3) Court and prison records and police certificates, I don't have those since I never did anything crazy to have those records so what should I do?

4) Since my dad is the petitioner, he has to be the primary sponsor as well but doesn't work since he came to the US in 1994 so how can I provide the NVC his financial documents? His only income is the SSI, can I just send them a copy of his SSI payment?

5) What is the Petitioner documents that they are asking about under the Supporting Documents?

6) Under supporting documents again, they wanted photographs and photocopies....so photographs of whom? Is it me, the sponsor again? And photocopies of what?

Thank you very much everyone for helping, much appreciated and happy Holidays everyone!

1. You need to provide the financial documents along with the I-864A. Your father will provide the I-864 along with financial documents being the petitioner.

2. The proof of relationship is between the petitioner and the beneficiary. That being your father and your sister. So you need your sister's birth certificate, translated if needed.

3. This again is only for the beneficiary, your sister.

4. You should provide his tax returns even if he owed no taxes. He still need to provide the I-864 even thought you are given support.

5/6: Not sure how to answer this.

hi

he will file the i864 as sponsor and provide a letter explaining why hasn't he filed taxes

you will file the i864 as the only joint sponsor

you will need, taxes, letter from employer if you can and paystubs, and proof of Citizenship or LPR

the other documents you are referring to are your sisters for the DS260, all civil documents and police records from your sister, birth certificate
