I just need a little help. I will be in the Philippines in January and we are getting married. I want to stay with my wife until her paper work is completed and she has her visa. My question is I heard you can get a stamp to stay for 1 year. What's it called and how do I go about getting it. Thank you all for the help

That is called a Balikbayan stamp, but you can only get it when entering the Philippines with your wife, so after you are married take a quick trip, call it a honeymoon to Bali or someplace, bring a copy of your marriage certificate then as you clear customs with your wife request the Balikbayan stamp

Former Filipino Balikbayans traveling to the Philippines are advised to bring either their old Philippine passport or copy of Philippine birth certificate as proof of their former Philippine citizenship.

Way back in the 1990s when I'd travel to the Philippines with family (before I had a student visa, before I became a dual citizen) all that was needed to prove my former Philippine citizenship was the fact that my place of birth in my US Passport was "Iloilo City, Philippines"
