K1 Experiences at New Delhi

Hello

My boyfriend and I shall be beginning our K1 process very soon. I just thought I would ask you guys about your experiences , if any, at the New Delhi consulate. I have heard they are very picky about K1 and therefore we are wondering if a marriage based petition is better; however as my boyfriend is in grad school and his dad is co-sponsor, we felt K1 might be better.

Also, is a formal engagement ceremony necessary before we apply for the K1 ?

On the top of the page, click on "Reviews: Embassy/USCIS & POE". You can read about what the people went through during their interviews. Many countries have their own traditions/customs and the interviewer will definitely be suspicious if you did not follow it specially if the country is very strict about sticking to traditions. Since some of your questions are country-specific, you should pop down to the region specific thread for better answers.
