Requesting a delay before NOA2

I know that everyone here is doing everything they can to EXPEDITE their K1 applications, I'm wondering if anyone has ever needed to request a delay?

I posted a few weeks ago that my fiancé, who is from the U.K., fell ill and may need a liver transplant. Since then we have confirmed that he has a noncommunicable autoimmune disease that is attacking his liver and a transplant is unavoidable. Because he is from the U.K. and has National Health Services we are currently of the opinion that it makes sense he remain in the U.K. for the procedure. This does mean a considerable delay in our plans and likely means forfeiting out K1 Visa application.

We are July filers, Texas office, so we haven't received NOA2 yet. There are so many people who are also in queue with us who don't have this problem. If we could move to the back of the line, I feel we wouldn't have to start again from scratch. But I can't find any way to make that request.

In my earlier post, there were good suggestions for stalling the London consulate that might win us a few months. What I'm hoping to find is a means to put our application on hiatus until we're ready to proceed. I have considered contacting my senator's office, does anyone think that might be helpful?

I appreciate your insight and experience. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

USCIS will probably see it as abandonment, since they generally don't care, and will ask you to file again when you're ready. That's just a speculation based on all that I've read.
