proof US Domicile, payment of AOS & IV invoices (HELP)

Hello everyone,

so yesterday I called the NVC and confirmed that they have a buggy system (I got invoices for AOS and IV, but can only see AOS as payable, they told me to give it a couple of days and it wil be there)

so now we have to proof the US Domicile for the US citizen.

we have the following things:

  • US passport
  • Social security number
  • a signed and official binding bid on a house in the states (We lost the bed :cry: ) but we have the emails and chat logs with the real estate agent and the signed offer.
  • the US citizen has her pet in the states in her house, we bought him some stuff and shipped it to the states, (can we show this as a proof?)
  • a bank account in the states (the problem the US Citizen forgot the account number and the online banking info, her wallet was stolen in Germany)
  • we have been looking for a car in the US and we have emails and chat logs showing proof.
  • the applicant has a job offer in the US
  • our residency in Germany expires on Feb 28th, 2015 (To show them that we are really planning to leave Germany and live in the US)

what else should we provide or would be a good thing? my wife lost her driving license and other docs when her wallet was stolen in Germany :oops:

to proof the marriage and the relationship, do we have to send the files and docs we sent to the USCIS again?

  • we have a joint bank account
  • we have a joint insurance account (she is insured on my name in Germany)
  • we have city hall registration with both our names on it.
  • we have papers from the finance and tax department from Germany.
  • we have a joint tax declaration in Germany.
  • we have plane tickets and pics from trips in Jordan, Germany, and Dubai.
  • we have pics from a family part (we didn't have a big wedding as my wife has anxiety and we totally respect her decision and fully support that she does not want a big wedding)
  • we have of course the marriage contract from Jordan (translated and stamped from the secretary of state in Jordan)
  • we have some house rent contracts with both our names on it.

some of the stuff are in German and we are going to have our interview in Germany, should we translate everything? :(

how to get a police certificate in Germany?

You already have a good bit of evidence for her US domicile. And the immigrant visa unit in Frankfurt receives the documents you sent USCIS with your I-130 petition, so I myself left out any bona fide marriage evidence when I sent in my husband's civil documents to the IV unit. (You can always bring more marriage evidence to the interview - like a photo album, etc.)

Nothing needs to be translated at this stage if it's in English or German. Anything in any other language needs professional translation.

The police certificate can be retrieved from the city's Bürgerbüro in the city hall (Rathaus) by asking them for an einfaches Führungszeugnis. It'll cost 13 euros and should be in your mailbox within 3-5 days.

-RFE regarding evidence of bona fide marriage received along with NOA1

-RFE reply packet sent to Frankfurt Sept. 30, 2014

-E-mail response (NOA2) received by USCIS Frankfurt on Oct. 23, 2014 (Petition APPROVED Oct. 20!!!) :dancing:

-Paper NOA2 received in the mail Oct. 29, 2014

-Case number assigned by IV unit Oct. 30, 2014 (Received by email Nov. 3)

-Paper "Packet 3" arrived in mail Nov. 4, 2014

-DS-260 and Document Delivery Registration submitted to Frankfurt Nov. 4, 2014

-Mailed in priority date request found on Packet 3 to IV Unit Nov. 5, 2014

-IV ("Packet 3") package sent to Frankfurt Nov. 17, 2014

-Medical completed by Frankfurt panel physician Nov. 17, 2014

-Received "Packet 4" via e-mail Nov. 20, 2014

-Interview booked for Dec. 3, 2014 (booked Nov. 21, 2014 after email authorization received)
-Visa approved, issued AND picked up by the courier all within 7 hours, Dec. 3, 2014 :dance:

According to this site NVC apparently has a new thing going on that you don't need translations for them either as long as the documents are in English or German (language of the consulate you'll be interviewed at):

now the problem the lawyer is on a vacation and I dont know if I should pay the AOS and IV bills myself. do they have a deadline?

I don't know how that stuff works since we didn't work with a lawyer, I did everything myself. I'm not sure if the whole "power of attorney" things allows you to take over certain things on your own or not. But, I'm pretty sure you're good since the deadline would be like 60 days to submit stuff. (I think!!)

Correct; however, this is not "a new thing going on," this has been the case for a number of years.
