Hello, My question is my I797 is about to expired on 12/07/2014, but i had read on this forum that the actual valid time is up to 1 year, is this true?

We already did everything the only left to do is the background check, medical, visa fee and interview.

should we call asap for a interview as soon as we make the payment?

Thanks Joe V

Ps. the approval dat goes from 08/08/2014 to 12/07/2017.

Yes the embassy will automatically extend the petition validity up to a year.

What background check???

Follow the embassy instructions letter for what is required.

As for scheduling the interview, it is easiest to do that online once you have paid your visa fee at BPI

Details on the complete process in the link below... follow the flashing arrow.
