Hi guys,

I just want to thank VisaJourney as i have gotten some invaluable info from here while going through our whole K1 visa process!

FINALLY after 19 Months since we started the whole journey, I have had my interview at the London embassy and been approved!

I just wanted to share my experience about the interview at the embassy as i found myself going in nervous and not knowing what to expect.

First of all, i stayed in a hotel nearby to the embassy, to avoid any stressful rushing. I arrived at the embassy half an hour before my scheduled time and had to wait 25 minutes to get through security to enter the embassy. Sign in at the front desk and you will then be given a ticket number!

I waited about 90 minutes before my number was called and was told which window to go to (yep like the windows at banks, i don't know why i thought i would be interviewed in a private office!?).

The first lady was really friendly, she went through our 260 pack and everything else my wife and i sent through to the NVC over the past year and asked me a few easy questions like, have i ever been arrested, have i lived anywhere else other than England etc. By the way, make sure you pay for your courier service before attending the embassy, she also asked for my receipt of payment for this.

I was then told to sit back down and again wait for my number to be called out. Probably another 90 minutes wait and i was called to another window. THE INTERVIEW!

Again a very nice woman was sat behind the window and asked me a few easy questions.. When did i meet my wife? When did we get married? Who is your sponsor? How big is the household of your sponsor? Have i ever over stayed my visa in the US? Have i got a criminal record? ..... And then BAM! OK sir you have your green card!

I didn't even get any of my evidence/paper work/ photo album out that my wife and i had prepared over the course of 3 months! They didn't ask for anything, i was very surprised. They gave my original documents back (wedding cert, Birth cert) and told me my passport with visa will be delivered in 5 days. Bye!

SOOO overall, long waiting times but a very easy interview. That being said, this was only my experience. I could over hear a lot of interviews asking for ALL sorts of proof of relationship. So do please turn up prepared.

If i was to do this all over again i would:

Dress smart casual

Get there no more than 45 minutes before your scheduled time

Bring some snacks and water (its a long wait)

All of your evidence and paperwork

Smile and be polite with your interviewer, laugh with them

AND RELAX :)

Hope this helps anyone going to the London Embassy :)

GOOD LUCK GUYS!
