Police Certificate

Hi all,

My fiance and i, we are going to do the K-1 visa. Everything is ok with my fiance's documents in the US. However, from my side, i'm a citizen of Vietnam and i have to submit the police certificate when i go to the interview. They stated that for those who is over 16 years old and has been lived more than 6 months in a foreign country, he/she should apply for a police certificate. I had an exchange program to study in Germany in 6 months, and i am 22 years old.

Anyone here can show me how to apply for the police certificate?

e-mail the Bürgerbüro in the Standesamt of the city you studied in and they should be able to mail you the certificate - ask for an "einfaches Führungszeugnis". If it's clear it'll read "Keine Eintragung" on the bottom in bold letters. I think it was 13 Euros we paid for it.

It might take some time as you're in Vietnam and it even takes about 3-4 days for residents of Germany to obtain it themselves, but no crazy long wait I'd say.

Some other guy from Spain on here had the same issue having to get a certificate from Germany and he was able to sort it out through e-mail communication. I was actually surprised it worked for him, haha.

I did some reading and they said i can fill in an application form for it, they said like "Certificate of Good conduct" or something like that.

Then i have to have it approved, sealed by the consulate of Germany in Vietnam, then send it to a department in Bonn by the address:

Bundesamt für Justiz
Sachgebiet IV 21 / IR

53094 Bonn

i have to send it with the receipt of payment (13 euro), and then wait for them to send it back.

Is that way possible?
