Hello,

Our case is now at NVC level waiting on their next action after submitting all documents. Now I have just discovered that six months from now my passport will expire (Passport expiry date April 19, 2015).

Questions:

  1. Is it appropriate to go for a renewal before the visa date comes?
  2. Will the Ghanaian Passport Office accept renewal when the passport still have six months to expire?
  3. Will this action change any thing within the NVC process which may eventually cause unnecessary delays?

Thanks a lot for your responses.

1) Did you submit DS-260 ?. I think even if did its fine. You will have both passports. You can correct it at the interview.

2) You should check with Ghana passport center about that.

3) It won't change any thing with NVC.

Apply for a new passport but don't postpone your interview, show up with the old passport. The CO will ask you to get a new passportand will schedule an appointment for you to just bring your new passport for the visa.

The same thing happened to me before I moved to the US and that's exactly how it was dealt with...good luck.
