Hey everyone,

I was listening to the radio yesterday and found out in Cincinnati they are doing this huge $50k wedding giveaway from the radio station and participating sponsors. Anyhoo, I thought I might enter it, but you have to make an engagement scrapbook and write an essay about your love story. I feel we might have a shot, seeing as our story won't be the traditional... "We met at a bar, met at school" etc. I'm not good at scrapbooking though. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on what to include in an engagement scrapbook. By the way it doesn't say if you get them back, so i'm thinking to not include anything thats one of a kind - like cards he's send me or something.

Hmm...

beer mats...why not? And also any ticket stubs...movies, music gigs, airline, museums, etc....

I love the idea of a scrapbook, and have a huge azzed box with all sorts from me & D's relationship...been planning to do one for years, just never got around to it yet, hhahahah. I have pictures, and cocktail stirrers, ticket stubs..my 'HEAVY' tag from my luggage, lol...matches, beer mats, letters, phrases cut out from mags, museum brochures, drawings, emails, theatre programs, monogrammed napkins from places, cards, dried flowers & piccies of me WITH the flowers when they were alive, lol, receipts, hotel pamphlets, etc. It'll be cool if I ever get it together, hahahahaha.

I wish you well & hope that you make the winning book!

The girlfriend who traveled to Germany with me when I met David gave us THE BEST wedding gift....

She created a scrapbook in the form of a fairy tale story, starting with, "Once upon a time, there was a princess named Jen...." and she went on to catalog our trip, inserting pictures, pamphlets, etc. from our time there. She had some friends send her things from the area and I sobbed the entire way through it....

I'm going to supplement it with momentos that I kept and plan to keep the story going by adding on to it....

If you submit the scrapbook, don't forget to make color copies of the pages so you have that, at least, if originals are not returned.

Jen

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

my 'HEAVY' tag from my luggage, lol.

Hahaha, I thought I was the only person in the world who saved those for a scrapbook.

You might want to check in the rules-- There's a disclaimer in a lot of these contests I've noticed that say both fiance and fiancee need to be US residents. Frustrating.

 I have my heavy tag from my luggage too. I had to pay overweight charges last time I went to England.

As far as disclaimers it didn't have any online, but it did want phone numbers from both fiance and fiancee.. Hmm..

Photo copy/scan your items and put the scanned/copied items into the scrapbook, That way, if you don't get the scrapbook back, you'll still have your original items.

If you have a favorite song get the words from it or get the sheet music and use that as a background for a page.

You could make it into a story by starting with Once upon a time there was this girl who travelled far far away to find her true love.... etc...

I've made tons of scrapbooks. If you'd like you can pm me and I'd be glad to help!
