Sorry, I'm an American. Not a Negro. And it's about time they made the change.

As a noun, you are not a negro. But as an adjective, it appears you are...

Ne·gro
ˈnēɡrō/
datedoffensive
noun
  1. 1.
a member of a dark-skinned group of peoples originally native to Africa south of the Sahara.
adjective
  1. 1.
    relating to black people.

And Wiki says...

The word "Negro" is used in the English-speaking world to refer to a person of black ancestry or appearance. Negro denotes "black" in Spanish and Portuguese, derived from the ancient Latin word, niger, "black"...

Just not sure why saying black in Spanish was considered less offensive (back before our time) than black in Engrish.

I reject your logic, like penguins reject nature.

:wow: I can't even listen to that. My ears bleeding.

This was back when Ice Cube was hard, before Are we here yet...

Filed: Timeline

The Army issued a statement saying it removed the term "Negro" Thursday as soon as it realized it was in the document. It did not say when the term first appeared in the document, but it apparently was many years ago.

The Army offered an apology to anyone who was offended.

It looks like it first appeared in the 2006 edition. I can't find the same reference in the 2002 edition:
