CR1 Path - After NOA2 - when will relative receive packet?

Hi Vjers,

I just got my NOA2 (Thank you so much for all your help). After reading some of the guide and looking at some others' timelines, I was wondering when will the NVC contact my spouse?

"A few weeks after you have received your last Notice of Action indicating the approval and forwarding of your I-130 application to the NVC, the NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad."

from the letter it said that the NVC will receive the approval from USCIS in about 30 days, looks like that's pretty consistent with some of the timelines. But at the point, when does the NVC contact my spouse?

thanks in advance!

Some one help me if I am wrong but I think after the N V C gets it you call them after a couple weeks and ask if you have a hcmc case number yet. If you do you go to the ceac web site and sign a choice agent and then pay A O S fee .

Then after you sent in with the cover sheet you can pay the visa application fee and get that stuff ready and send in with the cover sheet or all at the same time . Then about when your done with that your wife will get a letter telling her those same steps you already finished seems like.It also has a list of the steps on the web site.

all forms are pdf-fillable these days,

so if you you want to download them and send it out to your spouse, that's cool.

Note - the DS-260 is an online form, the visa application, it's not a pdf fillable form, at all.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks for the info guys. So I shouldn't even bother waiting for them to contact my wife then. I should just call right?

I'm working on anything I can in the meantime. going to give NVC a call this week. Last time I tried, the line was busy and busy and busy.....

Darnell...

I'm so glad you pointed out this guide. it looks like there are some changes in ways of doing things, based on the guide

"WARNING: NVC RECENTLY CHANGED THEIR WEBSITE TO REFLECT A SUPPOSED NEW PROCESS WHERE YOU CHOOSE AN AGENT (DS-261), SUBMIT FEES, COMPLETE THE DS-260, AND THEN SUBMIT BOTH PACKAGES TOGETHER AFTER, IN THAT ORDER. UNTIL I'VE SEEN HOW THIS NEW PROCESS WORKS WITH FELLOW MEMBERS, I WILL HOLD OFF FOR NOW ON UPDATING THIS WIKI. YOU CAN READ MORE ON THIS NEW PROCESS AT NVC'S WEBSITE HERE [1]."

I had already told my wife that we would need to email the NVC to appoint me as the agent, but from your link, it looks like that it's going to be done online. We just need the case number from NVC.

great call Darnell!

i did use the word 'bible', properly.

Look, EZGuideSpouse and James_ShortCuts were great, in their time, but NVC Process wiki is current. I hope I saved you some collective Venn Diagram sketching for versioning.

Soon, you'll find a monthly NVC Thread in the CR-1 /IR-1 Progress Reports Sub-Forum - I suggest you read the last 6 topics, prior 6 months worth of stuff.

If you've been using a handphone web browser for research and study here, prior, or even a tablet -

turn em off, pull out the battery and use a PC,

as

you miss so much here, when not using a PC.

thanks for the advice Darnell, for the most part when i'm reading stuff its on the pc, only when I look at updated content that I follow i'm on my phone. But you lead me to the right place Darnell, lots of info in that sub forum. I need to re-read the guide again, and then 2 more times.
