I would check the requirements for the state you live in... In Canada every province has different requirements and regulations and I believe the same goes for each state. This website might be helpful http://www.dalefoundation.org/Resources-And-State-Requirements/State-Dental-Assistant-Requirements You could also call a few dental clinics in your area and ask a few questions, I work in a dental office and this happens once in a while, I actually ended up hiring 2 employees that way... you never know!

Best of luck.

Hi! Congrats on your marriage and welcome to the US!

I would recommend going here: http://www.wes.org/evaluations/preliminary.asp

To check to see if your degree requires additional credentials to maintain your nursing degree; you will still need to get licensed in the state you're going to be working in, even if it is transferable from PH to the US. It mostly depends on whether you've completed the required credentials, most are transferable as long as you've met those requirements.

Regarding a dental assistant position, you'll likely need additional classes and training; in the US dental work is not medical. It's a specialist service and the two do not overlap. Luckily is won't be a long program with your nursing background. I would contact some local medical schools, and see what can be done. You'll need your transcripts from your school in PH to provide them, and they'll figure out what credits from that degree are transferable to a Dental Assistant Program, allowing you to skip through much faster by avoiding classes you already took.

Good Luck!

I would just sit for NCLEX and get a hospital job in USA.

You will earn a lot more and then you will only have to work 3 days per week and it will be full time with full benefits, probably start out around 30 to 34 per hour, and then get a part time job at another hospital and work PRN and earn about $45 per hour with shift differential pay at each hospital.

Hospitals hire a lot of RN's, dentist as a rule don't hire RN's they only hire assistance.

Being that you have a 4 year BSN with work experience, you would be a better candidate over a US educated RN with only a 2 year degree.

Good Luck

Check Arizona state NCLEX-RN requirement and sit in for an exam... They are right, you should pursue nursing.. I am based here in California and its hard to get eligibility to take NCLEX here if you graduate internationally, youre lucky youre at Arizona, am i right? I think it is easier there to sit in an exam... Study early while you apply.. It may be longer waiting but the pay is worth it

Faith can move mountains :D
