Yesterday NVC informed that my case is complete and I will be receiving further information regarding this shortly. I am hoping that I'll have my medical and interview Nov/Dec. I have already booked a flight to the US to spend Christmas and New Year with my husband and I am hoping that I can enter with the US with the conditional green card then, providing all goes well at the interview. I will return to London in January 2015.

I am also pregnant and I would like to have my baby here in London as I have started my antenatel care here and I am familiar with the health professionals and hospital where I plan to have my baby. In addition my family will be here and my husband can fly over to be with me at the birth. Also there's the fact that health care is free here and I also would like to work for a bit longer to save up some more money and there's the fact that I have other things to tie up before I move to the US permanently. The baby is due in May 2015

So here are my questions:

How long from the medical/ interview (provided I am issued with a conditional green card) do I have to leave the UK and move to the US? I would like to travel to the US in Dec 2014 with the conditional Green card, return in Jan 2015 and go for good with the baby around August/September 2015. Will this cause any problems?

What paper work will I need to complete for the baby to move to the US?

I understand that I/my husband have to adjust my status after being married for two years, but this will need to be done 90 days before the two years is up? Well July 2015 will be two years so this will need to be done by April, but I do not plan to be in the US at this time. Will this be a problem?

What do you think will be my best option? Ideally I would like to have my baby in London, is this possible without affecting my chances of moving to the US. Or would it be better to have the baby in the US?

I would appreciate helpful and factual advice.

Thank you.

Many topics to discuss in just one post.

Your visa will be valid for 6 months from the medical date. You need to use it to enter the US before it expires.

You become a permanent resident as soon as you enter. Your passport will be endorsed to give you proof until the actual greencard comes in the mail. You may leave and come back with that passport temp proof or a greencard. But if you will be gone more than 6 months, you should read this about maintaining your permanent resident status and read up on reentry permits. http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-green-card-granted/maintaining-permanent-residence

Having the baby in London makes sense. It will be costly in the US. plus you will have your family to help you. The flip side is the baby's American life will be a little more complicated not having an American birth certificate. I can imagine when you sign him up for school or Little League, the locals going "what is this?" when you present a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) instead. (I am only exaggerating...he will have a British birth certificate). You will apply for CRBA at the consulate and also an American passport for him to travel to the US on. Info here on CRBA http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/acs/passports/robirth4.html Factor in time to get the CRBA and passport.

Adjustment of Status: No, not really. Your greencard will expire in two years, so you will Remove Conditions By proving you are still married to hubby that brought here. If you enter the US on your visa (and become a permanent resident) December 2014, you renew by December 2016. You can submit the application 90 days before your greencard expires. Then you will be granted a 10 year card.

HoW does health care work in the UK? In canada when you become an LPR in the USA you are no longer eligible for Canadian health care as you are no longer a resident in a province. You may want to check on that before activating your visa.
