Police certificate for Knightsbridge Medical

Hi everyone

I know the consulate considers police certificates valid for a year, but according to the embassy's website, the Knightsbridge Medical people will only take one that's up to six months old. Is this correct or outdated? I'm not sure I will have enough time to order another one considering the last one took a month to get to me. My certificate expires on the 24th October.

Have you tried contacting them directly? That's odd, I'm not sure why the medical people would required the police certificate. In my country they're only valid for like 30 days.

They require the police certificate so they can see if the person has any drugs/drink related convictions and if that was the case they would do a drugs test. If the PC is clean they don't need to bother as much.

Giving them a call/email is not a bad idea if you don't get a reply on here Ketsuban, they usually answer pretty quickly.

I see. I thought they did drug tests anyway as part of the medical. If the consulate accepts it for a year, they shouldn't be placing stricter requirements. Worst case scenario, you will need to get a new police cert.

Cheers Hotter Otter, I sent them an email. I don't understand why the London Embassy has written on the main police cert page that they're valid for 12 months, yet on the description of the medical exam, they write that they have a 6 month validity. It must be a misprint, but I will make sure.

If I need a new one it's going to be £89 down the pan because I'm not risking having to wait another month for the certificate when the medical will likely be sooner.

Make your appointment before the 24th? I haven't ever seen anybody have an issue with Knightsbridge over a police certificate. People have sent theirs off to NVC and didn't keep a photocopy and Knightsbridge said that's ok. They didn't get sent away for not having one. It's just a tool they use to help them determine the mental health charge. If you look decent and have a clean police certificate, I am betting they won't quibble. But they are only a phone call away if you are worried about it.

Do you have your case number? You need that for medical. Why not just call knightsbridge and ask them about the police cert, you're going to call them for an appt anyway.

I decided to in the end and have an appointment for Monday. I'm assuming it's not an issue that London doesn't have my case file yet. They must know about me already since the interview is booked

So, my wife called today to make the appointment and didn't even bring up the police certificate, but they asked if she had it yet. She told them yes, from April, and they said she would have to bring an updated one to the appointment. Asked if she wanted to call back to schedule after she had it. I guess we'll get it just to be on the safe side as she won't have enough time between medical and interview date to get another one if they ask for it then. What a pain, another fee to pay thanks to the mess at NVC.

That's weird that they said that... check out my email correspondence with them below. It wasn't all that long ago and my police certificate was printed on April 24th. I had no issues at the medical.
