Incorrect naming format on tax return

I (the USC petitioner) have a CPA and he does my annual taxes. I married my wife (the immigrant beneficiary) last year and we got an extension on our taxes so we filed last week for our 2013 taxes. My CPA files electronically so I'm wondering if there is the ability to edit or update digitally submitted tax returns before our October 15th deadline.

My CPA listed my wife's name incorrectly—I'll capitalize the last name to make it easier to comprehend. He wrote "Jane DOE SMITH" when he should have written "Jane D. SMITH," since the forms I recently signed and reviewed ask for first name, middle initial, and last name.

Her Social Security number is correct, but this is her first time filing under her married name and we will obviously make sure it is filed 100% correctly next year when we do our 2014 taxes. I'm just wondering if this would cause any issues with either the IRS or USCIS (we have our green card interview next month).

Our CPA said that the name difference didn't matter since it's all tied to the SSN. I wanted to see what our VisaJourney users had to say. In our case, in addition to federal and state residence taxes, we pay income taxes in two additional states, so I just don't want to cause any problems that end up being so fragmented across several levels of government.

Thanks for your insights!
