Mine is Feb2014 and i called them ...but they said they are processing for month of september so call after 4 to 5 months. It already 8 months passed and 4 to 5 months will take 1 year pass to get NOA2(Case No)/But given fact my PD will take still 11 to 12 months to become current i guess its ok not to rush for it.

Mine is Nov 15 2013....and i m not going to call them....coz they will give the same answer to me to....."We r working on Sep 30 2013.....Blah Blah Blahhhh..."""....Better to wait till they move ahead from Sep 30 .....

I am also in same boat as u guyss...feels frustrating ....we r just like 10 months away and still no Approval yet.....

Even when they approve and send the case to NVC, it takes a month or so...and then document processing etc etc....all this takes 3-4 months....and then the Interview.....Atleast they must approve cases before 6 months of ones PD becoming current.....

Hi,

I would like to clarify, since there seems to be a lot of confusion regarding this. VSC doesn't process preference based petitions in the same amount of time that they take for IR petitions. Pref based petitions take about 2 years or sooner if your PD is reached earlier.

Therefore, anyone on F2A has to wait this long for the petition to be approved, it will be stuck in initial review for this time. Also in the chance that they approve sooner, the petition would only sit at the NVC anyway until the PD is current. They do this to cut down processing times for IR petitions which have visa numbers available right away.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Even though they do not process petition faster at least they should consider moving the dates as the VB moved up by one month in the last consecutive months. Therefore, I disagree with the way they work and how they handle petitions. The point where you mentioned that even if it is approved it will still sits with NVC at least it is better to have something than nothing that keeps your hope up. I spoke to our attorney and she mentioned that they should soon start processing for Oct and Nov petitions therefore, I hope all VSC filers that filed their petitions in Oct, Nov, Dec 2014 and onward pray hard so that we can hear something by the end of this year. :)

I understand what you are trying to say, but they do approve the petition by the time the PD is current. My cousin's petition was approved a month before the PD became current.

This is actually a good thing because there have been cases where people started processing early and by the time they got to the interview, they were told they have to wait because of visa retrogression.

I also respectfully disagree and think that this process works and all the service centers should do it because it reduces the backlogs for the entire service center if priority is given to those petitions which need immediate processing.

This does not constitute legal advice.
