Long story short,

I am an american citizen living in the US, my wife lives in Cairo.

to bring my wife to come live with me in the states, I applied for I-130 locally to the USCIS and paid the $420.

my petition has been approved and been transferred to the NVC to finish the process.

I already paid the AOS and the IV fees.

now Im required to submit some documents before our interview in Cairo is arranged.

and I had some questions to those who already experienced this:

1- Since I already submitted these material (Birth Certificates, Marriage certificate, Passport photo..etc) in the beginning to the USCIS , WHY am I being asked to submit the same material AGAIN to NVC?

2- My wife lives overseas, is it really required to submit her REAL birth and Police CERTIFICATES ? I only have photo copies of them.

3- Some people are saying, no need to send the originals, just bring them with you to the interview.

4- Is it recommended for me to fly and attend the interview process ??? or it won't really make a difference.

I would truly appreciate finding some answers as well as all the tips i can receive from those who already been through this.

thank you in advance for your care and kindness.

1- Since I already submitted these material (Birth Certificates, Marriage certificate, Passport photo..etc) in the beginning to the USCIS , WHY am I being asked to submit the same material AGAIN to NVC? You weren't suppose to send those documents to USCIS. Sorry you will have to go back and either get originals or certified copies. USCIS doesn't ask for these and they don't forward them to NVC.

2- My wife lives overseas, is it really required to submit her REAL birth and Police CERTIFICATES ? I only have photo copies of them. Sorry NVC needs originals or certified copies and yes it is required to get through NVC.

3- Some people are saying, no need to send the originals, just bring them with you to the interview. Nope you are processed through NVC. Who are these people who say this. If you sent copies to NVC you will get a checklist That will delay you

4- Is it recommended for me to fly and attend the interview process ??? or it won't really make a difference. Depends how long ago you last saw each other. It can be a great comfort. Although you will not be allowed in embassy. It's your call.

It's important to note that the petition you submitted to the USCIS (part of the DHS) was approved. Now your wife is applying for a visa with the NVC (part of the DOS). Her original documents, birth certificate, police certificate etc.. are required by the NVC to fully process her visa application. Submit the originals AND a photocopy so that she will get the originals back on the day of her interview.
