Hello. I am 22 years old and married this year on May 10th. I started petitioning my husband on August or September. I already paid the AOS processing fee and the IV fee payment is currently still processing. My question now is: How do I do the affidavit of support if I have never had a job? My father will be acting as co-sponsor. According to my aunt, I will be needing to fill out form i-864. She also mentions that I would need to write a letter, I guess explaining that my dad will be co-sponsoring or something like that? Has anyone petitioned their spouse without ever having a job? How does this work?

Hi. (I'm on the same boat as you.)

You will need to fill out form I-864, as will your father.

I don't know about including a letter, just that even if you are not working you still have to fill out an I-864 because you are the petitioner.

20 Feb 2015: DMV- Written test passed! Temporary License issued (Had MXN Lic.) :)

25 Feb 2015: USCIS Letter- Possible Interview Waiver!

12 Mar 2015: CA License obtained (Passed Behind-the-wheel test) :dancing:

06 Aug 2015: GC approved! :dancing: (Welcome to U.S. letter received 8/10)

19 Aug 2015: GC received in mail (2 year Conditional Residence)

So you did the AOS without ever having a job? How long after sending in the AOS did everything fall together?

I'm actually currently in the process of filing AOS right now. I don't have a job, I just graduated from college. I have not sent in the packet yet. I'm still working on getting the I-864 and my co-sponsor's as well.

Oh okay. Thanks. Would that affect the petition? I personally don't work because I actually wasn't able to get a job. I stopped applying recently because I want to finish college.
