What is the time period you have to move to the states in when you do DCF?

Would there be issues if we applied for DCF, and then my OH leaves to the States shortly after without me till i finish school?

Technically the petitioner can pack their bags and leave for the US as soon as the I-130 packet makes it to the consulate. The actual IR-1 visa will be valid for 6 months from the day you complete your medical exam. So, if you got your exam done today and had your interview/approval two months from now, then it'd be valid for another 4 months from your approval date.

Yup, usually 6 months from issuance.

The petitioner needs to move at the same time or before the beneficiary.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I am a USC and my partner is British. As we are in a civil partnership in the UK, we have to wait until December to transfer to a marriage, which we will do for immigration purposes. I have been made a job offer to start in mid January, which I would love to accept. If I file the I130 here in the UK, can I then leave for the states? And If so, would my partner continue the same process as if I were here? Would he encounter an problems by me leaving? What about the I 864? Do I fill that out before I leave? Thanks for any help!,

You might want to start your own thread. But as the USC you can leave as soon as you file. You don't have to hang around and wait till it gets approved.

With the I-864 you would want to fill it all out and leave it with your partner. But the page where it has you sign it and date it you might have to mail depending on how current the UK wants the date to be. But that is a minor thing. And, you can phone the Embassy and ask them.
