tu eres todo lo que me equilibra,

Who said that you should? What does or doesn't go into your decision-making process when casting your vote (when you actually get to do that) is nobody's business but yours. That, however, doesn't change the reality that in today's America and in the America that I will get to see in my lifetime a non-Christian is not going to be elected POTUS. Whether that makes sense to you and me doesn't even begin to matter.

Who freaking cares what his religion is? Does he have the experience to play ball in DC? I don't think so.

That is the element that matters.

Moreover, can he get the job done, without the usual political debt that goes with the job? Who knows. I would not want to be a US Presidential candidate in this days climate, Would you?

I do to a degree.

I sure think he does have what it takes to run with the ball in DC. Quite frankly, I'd rather have a guy at 1600 Penn Ave that isn't completely corrupted long before he moves in there - which is essentially what he'd be had he the "experience" you're looking for. It'd be refreshing.

I agree with that, if the candidate has no political debt, as most presidents do, he could instill positive change.

I always thought Ross Perot may have made the right choices for $1.00 in annual salary. We will never know what he could have accomplished, will we?

Obama may be the right choice for America.

On the other hand, William33 is willing to give it a go!!! Iraq was a mistake. I propose a gradual withdrawal, with expedited Iraqi military training.

No tax breaks for the wealthy. Will they miss those bucks?

Further, legislators are forbidden from "partisan riders" on legitimate bills. That is my start.

I realize that I would be a one term Prez. However, positive change may take hold. Any takers?

Didn't see the fine print yet but I'd go for a vote along those lines.

Sad that being Muslim is seen as a valid way to villify a candidate, and vehement denial of the same as a "smear tactic" is required. So much for equality of opportunity and freedom of religion in the USA.

This has very little to do with equal opportunity and freedom of religion. The US just happens to be a majority Christian country and that majority is simply not going to elect a Muslim (or Hindu or Buddhist) President. To pretend that people are going to disregard the faith of the candidate for the highest office would be silly. To suggest that the certainly decreased chances of gaining a majority vote for the office of President for being of a minority faith means that this country doesn't offer equal opportunity or limits freedom of religion is ridiculous. Freedom of religion does not mean that people are not allowed to make the faith of a candidate part of their consideration when casting their vote. Freedom of religion, like many other issues, is a sword that cuts both ways. After all, the voters have that freedom, too.

I heard the same thing about Catholics until JFK, divorced men, until Reagan, and women, but that can be possible in my lifetime too. Anything is possible in politics, that is something I have come to know.

PS, Obama is black. The possibility of a black president was impossible before too.

I'm only 53, and I've lived long enough to see the impossiblity of Catholics, divorcees, women and blacks tossed over. We'll get there, I have no doubt. Besides, most Americans only give lip service to Christianity; they're too busy being pc to be principled.
