lol my friend always just says "Philippines" our government isn't much better but better than nothin :D

I don't understand the "phone guy" at the window in NY Consulate stating "it is harder to do it through the mail then in person". Well duhhhh.... put the phone down and address the applicant (Dad) in a professional manner and it wouldn't be harder for them to do it by mail. Applicant does the paperwork, you "phone guy" check for completeness, then you "phone guy" places the paperwork in the envelope and it is sent off to the carrier to the Phil and DFA does the paperwork on their end and poof they return it to "phone guy". "phone guy" addresses an envelope with applicants information, licks the stamp and puts in the USPS (which is reliable) and applicant gets her new passport. Why is common sense so hard to learn. :content:

just wanted to update some information regarding what a typical catholic church requires in the philippines to renew/recreate your vows. They absolutely do require the ROM and not only that, they require the final NSO registration of marriage which takes 2 to 4 months after it is reported to the DFA. It's possible not every church requires it, but this one sure does: https://www.facebook.com/Sto.RosarioOfficial/info?tab=page_info

The Catholic Church would not fully recognize your marriage unless it was in a Catholic Church. I'm divorced in USA, working through a USA annulment and now Catholic from a ceremony here in the Philippines. We might end up doing a Christian or civil marriage ... But then we have to work with a catholic priest to make the marriage complete. That can be in the form of a ceremony with family.
