Hello,

My partner has decided to pursue the K1 visa to bring me into the U.S. He is a citizen of both St.Kitts/Nevis and the US.

Are there any issues we need to look out for? Or problems we should anticipate?

I was thinking of mentioning it in the how we met section since we met in St.Kitts and dated there for 2 and a half years (he has only beenliving in the U.S. for 8 months now) Maybe a paragraph?

Also, for the evidence of an on going relationship...we did some travelling together but he didn't use his USA passport, he traveled on his st.Kitts passport. We are planning to use itineraries with copies of immigration stamps to prove travel. Would doing that but making notations that this was from his other passport be ok?

He will be sending a copy of his birth certificate but should he send photocopies of both passports?

Thanks again.

Yes, this is a good thing to include in the petition. You don't need to go into a lot a depth, but a basic outline of how and where your relationship started and how it progressed to the current point. It paints a clear picture which can last right through the interview.

Yes to sending the the biopage of both passports (if the St Kits passport shows his entry and exit in St Kits) and the stamps that prove you were in each other's presence in the last two years before filing. The on going relationship is something you prove during the interview, not the I-129F petition, where just having met in the two years previous it filing is the important point. Birth certificates are not their preferred method for proof of citizenship, his USA passport biopage is. Unless its what they call the long form birth certificate, and they can get quite picky about that. Send it but make sure the USA passport biopage is used as the primary evidence of citizenship.

I currently hold dual citizenship (Australia/Great Britain) and have a valid passport for each country.

I listed both in my application, when stated citizenship I wrote 'AUSTRALIA/UNITED KINGDOM' and had no issues whatsoever.

Always be completely honest, that's my policy.

I will be applying for citizenship next year all going well. It's my understanding through research that the USA doesn't care about what citizenship you currently hold, they don't take it into consideration when granting citizenship. All they care about is if you're a good person that contributes to society correctly and aren't a burden to it. Once you meet the requirements you are entitled to citizenship. You don't need to forfeit any current citizenship you hold, this is just an additional.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the responses so far. I appreciate it...I was more so asking about him (he is the us citizen). He was born in the us and only lived there for about 5 years, then he left and lived in the Caribbean for over 15 years.

He has a us passport and a us birth certificate. I know that the US petitioner has to submit a copy of either, but should he submit a copy of his other passport as well? Just so it connects all the dots and there are no missing points? Or is just a brief explanation in the how we met section is enough?

We didn't add copies of the non US passport of my USC husband to our K1 just his US passport. We did list the other nationality as well as US on the form and mentioned it in the how we met section.
