why would a fence on our southern border be a bad thing?

Because it would be very expensive to build, more expensive to maintain, and at the end of the day end on both sides in water so even if it was grand and glorious enough for the 'undocumented Democrat' crowd, easily gotten around? Need more reasons?

Do you mean they would just go over it? Mentioning that both sides would end in the water suggests you think they would just swim around it.

I don't know why people say americans won't work for minimum wage, we see it all the time. Who do you think makes your burgers, sacks your groceries, makes your change at the toll booth, spins the cash for gold signs, stocks the store shelves? Servers/waiters make even less than minimum wage and some how that's legal.b Walmart is one of the top ten employers here and all I see working there are hillbillies ;)

We could cut costs by having the illegals build it.

It wouldn't be legal to do that, understandably. Undocumented immigrants are not, as so many suggest illegal, they are undocumented. Crossing the border without proper documents is not a felony, being in the country without documentation is not a crime, for all kinds of extremely sound legal reasons. So, just commandeering a work force of 'illegals' isn't an option, sorry.

It's the gambling aspect. You unwrap a burka you never know what is under it.

Maybe something like this on the border

maginot_defense1.jpg

Those turrets look ripe for automation or a robot!

And landmines.. Everybody hates landmines but nothing makes a border more secure than a few hundred feet of high density landmines.

You tried that conciliator shtick for a bit and it just didn't work. You've been typecast as the NB at this point. You could do worse.

Yes the conciliator bombed, not only that I had to look up the spelling every time I called my own name .

Try again. being undocumented in the US is not a crime, therefore calling them 'illegals' is a misnomer. Deliberately crossing the border without the correct documents is not a felony, it's a misdemeanor and being present in the US without documents is no sort of crime at all, period. I know it doesn't suit you to leave the conveniently provocative term 'illegals' behind, but that doesn't make calling people illegal for being in the US without the correct documents factual or correct. I guess you are uncomfortable with that reality so trying to suggest what I am saying is illogical is the best you can come up with. Again, it doesn't change the facts, they are what they are. Look them up.

There are legal ramifications for using landmines. The US has signed up to a good many treaties limiting their use. Such an inconvenience, but there you go, the price you pay for living in a country that supports the proposition of human rights and adjusts its response to border issues accordingly.
