My engagement ring has a diamond from the Sierra Leone diamond mine and is from the soil of my sweethearts home land......never ever would I consider upgrading it....it can't be upgraded because of the enorm sentimental value. It has a custom made gold band with designs. I love it !!! (L)

Lots of people are responding that they wouldn't upgrade.

Is this because of sentimental value to the original engagement ring, or financial reasons?

I really like my ring, which we bought together in Morocco. But the metal for the band is so thin that the band reshapes very easily and I've lost a stone twice, and only had the ring 7 months. So my fiance said we will choose one before the wedding that will last a lifetime. I will wear the original rings for special occaisions.

We don't have nor intend to have engagement rings. Just the wedding ring. :)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

After I explained our custom K said he will give me a ring when I come to see him in May. I don't care if it's a Baggie twist tie, I will wear it forever or until it falls off!(L) I am wearing a cheap little agate pendant that he gave me on the day we met - I will never take that off either since it will always remind me of that special day.
