Good day! I hope to get some clarifications with my concern. I am filing for a k1 visa for my fiance, I am currently living in Manila and have only gone to the US once a year, no income or no itr. I talke to an immigration lawyer who said that I can file for a joint sponsor provided that person makes enough and he told me that the k1 is better than getting married and filing the cr1. I've read in some entries here that joint sponsors are not honored in Manila Embassy. Can someone please shed some light on this? I don't want to waste money on the fiance visa if we have little chance of getting approved :( Thank you very much in advance!

A co-sponsor is hard to be accepted for K-1 visa cases. You can always try, but its really a 50/50 gamble on whether it will be accepted or not. You may even find it harder since you have no income. The better route would be to file a CR-1 visa...a joint sponsor HAS to be accepted with the CR-1 visa.

WoW! Find another attorney, for sure bad advice.

With the K-1 visa a co-sponsor is IFFY at best. But with a spousal visa the embassy HAS TO accept a qualified co-sponsor.

And being you are currently living in the Phils, once the marriage is registered with NSO do the DCF (Direct Consulate Filing) route for the CR-1, that is the absolute fastest way to go.

If using co-sponsor go CR1 route as manilia is known to be iffy on acceptance of them in K1 visas...

Another vote for DCF.

3 months to get your nso mc, if you do the advance endorsement, then the visa process can be done in as little as a month. A month and a half or two months is average lately.

Still need to show intent to reestablish domicile in the us, but that's relatively easy.

Thank you very much! I guess I'm not gonna risk with the k1 specially since it's a bit more costly. :)

Will most likely take the CR1 now! Thank you very much :)

yep it was at the US Embassy Manila. You can either get a job and show that your potential income is enough or a long shot probably would be if you have "enough" assets to satisfy the poverty limit. Anyway probably better to get married and do the CR1 like you said.
