CR-1 visa expired, had a baby. Now what!?

Hello all. I am posting this seeking advice for a friend.

This website really helped me when I married my wife from Peru with suggestions on wait times and listening to other people's experiences. I was hoping I could solicit some advice.

I have a friend in Honduras. She married an American and then he left the scene when she got pregnant but they are still married.

She spent a year stunned and having a baby and now she is ready to come to the US.

She has a CR1 visa in her passport but it was only good for entrance for one year and was issued in 2012 and expired in January 2013.

What can she do to renew her visa so can legally enter the country? And what does she need to do for her one year old so that he can enter the country too?

Do any of you have any experience with a situation like this?

She can't renew the visa. Her husband can apply for her again. She will need to contact the US embassy to file a CRBA for the child to obtain US citizenship, assuming the father meets the requirements to pass on the citizenship.
