Finally I am planning a trip back to England after two and half years here ............ I shoulda known it wouldn't be simple.

I knew that as I haven't updated my passport to married name (doesn't expire till 2011) I would have to carry my marriage cert ... no problem. But it appears that I may have hit a problem I didn't expect. When looking at flights online trying to get a bargain it appears that the ticket has to be booked on a cradit card matching the traveller (I will be travelling alone) as my credit card is in my married name how can I get round this as I assume ticket has to match passport!

Has anyone who has been up against this got round it or is it bite the bullet time and get new passport ............... oh for a simple life. All suggestions grateful;ly appreciated.

Why don't you just have your name changed on your passport... it only takes about 2 weeks to get it back from the embassy in Washington...

As I stated I accept that this may be the only way but to avoid additional expense I was asking if anyone knew a way round this I didn't want to have to pay and effectively waste 4.5yrs on a perfectly good passport.

I have bought tickets for my kids and my parents with my credit card all the time without problem. What site are you using?

I found a good price on airfareplanet.com, it also struck a chord that I'd seen the same thing on USAirways own site ........... a good price it isnt if i have to add $166 for a name change on passport or the more sensible $197 for a new passport lol

You would not be wasting 4.5 years all they do is change your name your new passport would still be valid for the remaining time on the old passport... but yes it does cost money...

The costs are $166 for a change to an existing passport or $197 for new passport so to my way of thinking I would be wasting it as for the sake of $31 if I go for anything I'd get a whole new passport or have to pay again in 4.5 years !

I cant rememebr who I booked through online one time, but I do remember coming up with the same problem. There was a contact number for this site, somewhere on the page, which I rang, and explained my situation, with my credit card being in my married name, and passport being in Maiden name. They took my booking over the phone, at the internet rate, and made sure my e-tickets were also issued inmy maiden name....Just a suggestion.

My passport is still in my maiden name to this day, and I just recently travelled at Christmas. It seems to be only a few sites that stipulate same cardholder name as passport/ticket holder. Becasue I have also booked my tickets for my daughters with my c/card online, and they have a different last name to me...

Good luck Widge
