Got my Form I-797 & it is being processed in California (K-1VISA). Now they say 5 months is the wait time for NOA2, but many I see many get theirs in a much shorter time. Is the 5 months their way of being "safe"? I am hoping, of course, for a shorter time frame.....

Thanks for all here that are so eager to help.

Many (from the Philippines) had a very short processing time at USCIS, but now that the expedite for Yolanda is over I expect things will go back to normal. Which means expect close to 5 months for processing.

Good time to learning drinking songs ;)

Igor's list (here at VJ) shows current trends in "processing time" (I call if what it is, delay time, not the warm and fuzzy "processing time". Your file actually gets processed in about 20 minutes).

Of course a multiplicity of factors can determine "processing time" (delay time), the largest one being sheer randomness. But it at least gives you some idea.

Processing time of 5 months is about the average.

Take the time to get all you documents and to be sure they are correct; spelling, missing names, dates, places etc. Go to all the government offices and begin filing for those documents; NBI clearance, CENOMAR, birth certificate, passport etc.

Do it now while you have the time. Believe me when I say this.... the time will go by fast and it will be over and she will be with you here in these United States.

Good place to begin is to follow Hank's hand dandy guide found here: http://visaconnection-philippines.com/
