I noticed that EB1, EB2, ... cases (when current) are delayed 4-6 weeks after Case Complete and before an Interview is scheduled. This is in contrast to family-based cases which are scheduled during the next scheduling window after CC, sometimes even during the same CC day.

My suspicion is NVC sends EBx cases to Consulates, processing is done there for a couple of weeks and then an interview is scheduled.

Anyone care to comment from experience?

Good to know. That means I should be getting an interview scheduled soon. I was looking at the stats for IR-1 case completes and was wondering why mine was taking so much longer. Hopefully I get an interview soon. It is hard to find much information of family based following-to-join EB-3 visas.

Yeah... I wish there was a dedicated VJ thread for employment based visas similar to NVC Filers - August 2014 and September 2014 Interviews. There are very few of us though as most applicants in this category go the Adjustment of Status route instead of Consular Processing.

Anyway, someone at the September 2014 Interviews thread suggested the delay is due to an extra step at DOS related to visa currency verification. Plausible I guess, though NVC could simply peruse the monthly Visa Bulletin for that. Second though... better not as it would probably take them another "60 days."
