Hello. I filed I-130 petition for my wife and our case is complete now. We have our interview date on Sept. 3rd. Is there any process post interview? I came to know that there will be an immigration package that my wife must carry with her and submit at the USA airport. How do we get this package? I mean does my wife get it during the interview or it will be mailed to her at her postal address? I am planning to book air tickets for her and that's why I wanted to plan accordingly. Can she fly one week after the interview?

Kindly help. Thank you.

Interview approval and passport/visa delivery date is not at your control,

so I wouldn't book any non-refundable flights until she has passport, visa, and

necessary POE documents on hand.

It can take weeks, in some cases for the visa and the package to be issued. In our case it was about a month. She shouldn't buy any tickets or make any other plans until she has her visa and visa package in her hands. Once she has that, she can leave the same day if she wants to.

Also, after receiving the visa and package and before POE, you have to pay the $165 GC fee to USCIS. This is best to be done before entry, that way the GC can begin to be processed when she enters.

December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

If all goes well and your wife's visa is approved, she would be getting her passport back with the visa stamped within a week. When she goes to pick up her passport, she would also be handed over the sealed envelope.
