I don't believe that. Where do you get that from?

I believe the US justice system brutalises people. I believe:

  • There are too many ways to put people in jail for years for relatively minor offenses when non-custodial options could yield better results.

You are upset that this murder is going to spend half a century behind bars. A 16 year old gang banger that would slit your throat just for making a hand sign in his direction. The thing you progressive folks cannot address is the tens of thousands of gang members that are walking across the Rio . Massive wholesale slaughter on city streets ... for years... Just because you cannot bring yourself to close our borders. So sad. You want to create feel good programs with my money that will do nothing .... The Great Society has proven to be a failure yet you still cling to the progressive mantra. ..... Families torn up .. unwed mothers producing unwed mothers. Complete social breakdown... Unsafe streets.... children killing children. Just vote that democrat ticket in November folks. .... As the next wave of gang members get imported from south of our border..

If more citizens were armed, criminals would think twice about attacking them, Detroit Police Chief James Craig

Florida currently has more concealed-carry permit holders than any other state, with 1,269,021 issued as of May 14, 2014

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

  1. I don't believe that murder is a minor crime.
  2. I do believe that the US justice system brutalises people, for the reasons I said.
  3. I don't believe that you can 'close' a land border thousands of miles across. It just isn't economical or practical.

These statements are mutually exclusive.

I am 'upset' that your country can charge juveniles as adults and the attitude that they should put a 15 or 16 year old in jail and throw away the key. I think more effort should be put into rehabilitation and community outreach programmes. It's abhorrent to me that someone can view a teenager brought up in horrible conditions and take the view that they are a lost cause. That's not just a failure of government, it's a failure of society as a whole.

When the criminal justice system sets the focus on rehabilitation, it has a positive effect on society and crime tends to trend lower. This can be seen all over the developed world vs. the US. It's really not that difficult a concept. Except, of course, when you're an oh so Christian American. Then revenge rather than forgiveness takes the center stage. Odd world we live in...

Perhaps you'd be good enough to adopt just three of those locked up for murder, take them home to your family, and show us how rehabilitation works in your country? I'd be willing to follow your progress.

Why is this always brought up when people talk about rehabilitation? Its not an alien concept, stop being so sensationalist.

Perhaps you'd be good enough try and understand the concepts underlying a point before replying. It would make you look a lot less foolish.

I look not at all foolish, not nearly so much as someone who proclaims we should do something, help rehabilitate, and attempts to dog on American christians (which has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand) yet does so from behind the comfort of his computer. Telling another country how bad they are screwing things up, while doing nothing to attempt to make things better, smacks of internet bullying.

Even worse, they run away from their home country, then proceed to tell everyone how screwed up the U.S. is.

Seems if they really had any real sense of decency or self-respect, they would have fought for their rights in their home country.. evidently it is easier, and safer, to come to America and use the internet to back stab your host country. Because this is American freedom, and unfortunately too many people take it for granted.
