Can my kids and I get Medicaid?

My kids (ages 7 and 4) and I are moving over from the UK while dh sells the flat and waits for his DCF to go through and get his Green Card. Can we get Medicaid? Or CHP for the kids? Dh will still be working and we have joint accounts, so since I have money, although in another country, can I not get Medicaid?

Good news. States are barred from placing length of residency requirements for Medicaid.

If you are all USC's, then there is no reason you shouldn't get medicaid unless you don't qualify because of your income. If you are concerned about your petition, don't be. There is nothing that prevents you from being able to receive benefits and petitioning a relative.

Also, I would like to point out, if you live in a medicaid expansion state, you can qualify for medicaid and still not need a joint sponsor. The reason being is that these states let you have income up to 138% percent of the poverty level, so if your income is below that and at least 125%, you wouldn't need a joint sponsor.

However, if your income is below 125% of the poverty level, then you would need a joint sponsor, but your receiving benefits wouldn't affect your spouse in any way whatsoever.
