I got a few quotes and in the end used Bournes and had no complaints.

01/27/2011 - Trevor's N400 submitted
02/18/2011 - Married
04/02/2011 - NOA1 hard copy received - priority date 03/30/2011
07/08/2011 - Trevor is now a USC - called USCIS to request upgrade of the petition.
08/02/2011 - NOA2
09/08/2011 - LND case number received, medical booked
09/26/2011 - Case complete at NVC
09/30/2011 - Interview date assigned
11/08/2011 - Interview - approved!!
11/10/2011 - Visa in hand
12/04/2011 - POE in Atlanta
12/12/2011 - SSN number received in mail
12/12/2011 - Welcome notice received
01/06/2012 - Green card received
09/06/2013 - File for Removal of Conditions

Somerset --- there are lots of threads where people discuss shipping. Many companies and numbers and websites get mentioned. Your method will depend on how much is a "small amount". Is that one suitcase full? 2 boxes? 10 boxes?

At the top right click "advanced search".

Search term is- shipping

Scroll down and find the drop down where you can limit your search to UK Forum Threads.

Does anybody have any recommendations for shipping a small amount of family items from UK to USA?

I will soon be shipping some of my personal effects to USA myself. I have done some research and compared prices, and I myself will go with Transglobalexpress. They seem to have very reasonable prices and use most common couriers (DHL, UPS or TNT). Look them up and see. Good luck.

Thanks that may work for them.....now I have what may appear to be an unusual question.....has anyone had a horse shipped?

My Mum has a horse in UK her staying here was totally unexpected, she would like to find out the cost of shipping the horse....I think it will cost a fortune but just thought I would ask if anyone else has done it?

From what I've read in other shipping threads, parcelmonkey is the best one price wise and they use dhl so it is safe. I have around 3 boxes of 20 kg each and one bike to ship. I plan to use parcelmonkey. I'll let you know how it went.

I've looked in to shipping horses... It's upwards of £1000, at the very least, and I wouldn't want to scrimp on the cost in case my horses' welfare was jeopardised. It is doable, but it'll burn a nice hole in your pocket.

It might be best for your mum to sell her horse here in the UK so he gets a good home and a consistent lifestyle. There are plenty of lovely horses to be found in the US.

Thanks for the post do you have any links for shipping the horse?

My Mum has had him since he was 4 year old & done everything with him, she really wants to ship him so I have to try to find out if we can do it for her. There are really cheap horses over here but it is not her horse that she is very attached to, she has never sold one of her horses they stay with her for life......he is with her friend now but I just want to find out if it is at all within our reach to get him shipped over.

A google search for "international horse transport" will bring up all of the companies I looked at, and more. Hope you can make it work for her. If she has all of his paperwork and vaccinations up to date, I'm sure there'd be no problem (apart from the bill...).
