Event Description

Embassy Review : My appointment letter said 8am, but I tried to get there earlier. I stayed with a friend the night before, and got up at 6am to get the bus to Marble Arch.

I arrived at around 7.30, and there were already three lines outside of about 50 people in total. I checked my bag in at Gould's Pharmacy (£3 - a bargain) and joined the line. They had one line for appointments from 8.30 and later, one for 8am, and a line for people who had been checked in. All the lines were moving quickly. I waited outside for maybe 10 minutes, maximum.

I was given a small, clear plastic bag for my mobile phone (and I should have put my iPod in there too), and going through the security check was simpler than airport security - but I did have to get my iPod out of my bag and show it to them, but it wasn't a problem.

I didn't keep track of the time, so I'm guessing a lot about how long things took.

My ticket number was I906, so I didn't have too long to wait. They didn't start calling numbers until 8am, and it was mostly N numbers to start with. Things moved pretty quickly and my ticket was called after maybe 15 minutes or so. The guy behind the counter was very pleasant. He took my documents - we have a co-sponsor and I wasn't sure if he would take my fiance's affidavit too, but he took both affidavits. He scanned my photo and my fingerprints and I went back to waiting.

I had to wait for maybe 25 minutes to be called up again for the interview. The I90 numbers were not called in order - I was expecting to be called up after I905, but they actually called I907 first, so it's worth paying attention.

A lovely American lady interviewed me, she was very smiley and positive. I said the oath and she started out asking how we met. I explained that we had met on a guest ranch in Montana, and she said it was a great story! She asked how long we had been together, and how we had kept our relationship going. She then asked where we would be living, and what I was planning to do out there. I explained that I'd be doing a diploma in manual therapy and was intending to work on horses and humans, to tie in with my fiance's work. She asked if he was still a cowboy, and I said yes. She then looked at our photos that we'd sent in with our i129f (I think she just wanted to see if he looks like a real cowboy... which he does).

We had some chit chat about horses as she has recently started riding, and she said it sounded like I was marrying the dream, and our kids would love the story! She then said she was going to recommend that our visa is approved! She gave me back some of the documents that had been taken before, and said it would be 7-10 working days for my passport to come back to me, and said to have a nice day - which I surely did!

I think I got outside at just after 9am, so all in all it was a really quick and easy experience. I went and sat in the park and called my fiance to tell him the good news, as he couldn't sleep for some reason...

POE Review: Seattle
Event Description
Entry Date : 2014-09-24
Embassy Review : I flew direct from London to Seattle, and my flight was delayed by about an hour and a half. On arriving at Seattle, the flight crew asked those of us without connecting flights to wait and allow people with connections to get off the plane first. I took my time getting off the plane, as I thought there might be a big queue at immigration.

It turned out most of the passengers on my flight were US citizens, and the visitor and visa line was empty. I got straight to a desk where the officer took my passport and my BBE. He was very pleasant, took my fingerprints and asked when the wedding was going to be. He then gave me a piece of yellow card along with my envelope and passport and directed me to another part of immigration, along to the left on a mezzanine above the baggage hall. A lady took my passport and envelope and told me to take a seat, and that I would be called when the officer was ready.

I had to wait for a while here for a little while (maybe 15-20 minutes), waiting for the one officer behind the counter dealt with some other people. He then opened up my envelope and looked through my file for several minutes without calling me up. He made a few annotations. He was quite a stern-looking chap (he reminded me of a Chinese Mr Spock - he didn't smile at all), but when he had finished going through my file he called me up to the counter.

He told me that I had 90 days to get married, and pointed out that I had used the K1 visa and could not use it to enter the country again. That was it! I was on my way.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
