Hi there, My name is Mary. I have a few questions. My partner and I have been together 4+ years. I live in Canada, she lives in Florida. We arent starting the process yet but I just have a few questions..

We think that the K-1 visa is the best option for us for me to move down with her. We think its the "easiest" and i have looked and done my research (and thankfully know of two people who are almost done the k-1 visa process themselves! phew!) but these are questions they dont really know..

1) I just came back from a work assignment in the US for one year on a J-1 Visa in which Walt Disney World sponsored me for a year. Does already having a Visa screw up your chances or change your chance of getting another?

2) I was denied entry into the US when I went to go visit her for a few months. It was unfair and i was treated very poorly but now I am "in the system" (they took my fingerprint and picture before telling me I had to go back home and try again tomorrow.) I went back a few days later and showed I had "ties to Canada) and now I have been into the states multiple times since then, including my work assignment above, but each time I have to go into secondary screening. Ive never been denied again thus far! Will this hinder my process in getting this particular visa?

3) When you are approved and get the visa is there a particular time frame you have to go into the country? Or if you get in in the beginning of the year you can go a few months later?

I know these are really silly questions, and we arent going to be working towards the K-1 visa until the beginning of 2017 (i have to save up a bit more money first!) but id rather know these questions now than later.

Thank you!
