More people will simply move to Oakland.

I was happy and lucky to get out of Oakland.

I bet! The murder rate there is just crazy! Not a place I would ever willingly choose to live.

I'm sure there are nice things about the city, just not enough to make me want to live there.

isn't the average low price for a home in SF $350K+?

Sounds a bit on the low side.

The UK minimum wage is $10 or so, and of course that includes medical benefits and usually a lot more.

Oakland varies, some parts are very nice.
