My wife just got her spouse visa from 2Go. I am just wondering if will need anything else in order to get on a flight. I just want to make sure before I get the ticket. She's going to get her stamp now.

Thanks in advance

At the airport she will need to pay the Exit Fee of P1620 (counter is at the front of the terminal between the luggage scanners) and terminal fee of P550. You already mentioned the CFO sticker so you are good to go.

Keep the DO NOT OPEN envelope in the carry on bag as it will be needed immediately at POE.

Agreed with Hank. But before she pays the P1620 Travel Tax, I suggest that she checks-in first. Some tickets already include the Travel Tax fee. And of course, additional fees for excess luggage, if any.

Besides these airport fees and CFO sticker affixed to her passport, she's all ready to fly home to you. Safe travels to your wife! :dancing:

If the ticket is purchased outside the Phils it is highly unlikely it will include the travel tax.

For my flight here, I bought my ticket via Orbitz and I didn't have to pay for my Travel tax. I'm not 100% sure how they work around this travel tax thing, but it's only a 1-minute walk around the departure area to be sure about this.

You purchased you ticket not your fiance and the ticket included the travel tax via Orbitz? Interesting. I wonder if that was because you were in the Phils so it did things different.

I know at NAIA it only took a couple minutes to pay the travel tax when we left.

I got Candy's ticket online here in New York on Expedia, and it did not include travel tax. I simply sent her the cash for that via Western Union. Her luggage was included in the international flight. For the domestic flight from Tugegaro to Manila I paid the luggage online at the airline web site.

Send your lady some extra cash for food and drink at layover airports as well as unforseen emergencies. I sent Candy $250 in total.

She had her passport, visa, CFO certificate and sealed brown envelope in her carry on and had no problems.

Yep, I paid for everything from my end. I'm not sure too why, Hank ... I was actually surprised when I was not asked to go pay the Travel Tax, and it was indeed a pleasant surprise. But that was not the first time I was not asked to pay the travel tax. So definitely, I am not complaining. Of course, I had to pay the excess luggage.

My flight to my POE (Honolulu) was with PAL, so maybe that was it. Or maybe because I am a PAL frequent flyer. In any case, it's always a good idea to check-in first before paying the Travel tax.

AHHHHHH!! There is the key! You flew PAL! That explains everything, with PAL I have read that before, but only with PAL.

Honolulu was a very easy POE.

No excess luggage issues, when I flew over I packed light so that my wife had at least 3 suitcases she could load up without issue when we flew home...

Yeah, but there is still a Travel Tax booth at NAIA Terminal 2 (aka PAL airport). So I am not really sure.

Hahaha... That's exactly what my husband told me when we're planning to go to PH next time, empty suitcases! Because he was laughing at me when he met me in HNL dragging the 4 luggages +3 carry-ons, and it was not a pleasant scene with no walkalators.

I have never been to terminal 2, maybe one day. Only PAL flies into terminal 2? I always flew Hawaiian before, now they dropped the Manila route... darn.

Yes, NAIA T2 is exclusively for PAL, both domestic and international. That's why it's also a good idea for those flying from the province to use PAL, because they don't need to change airport terminals.

I was eyeing Hawaiian airlines for my POE flight too, but they stopped around August 2013. All online agency-booked flights (from Orbitz, Expedia, etc) that were originally booked in Hawaiian airlines were all transferred to PAL then.

Just keep in mind that there are some PAL (pal express operated) domestic flights that actually use T3.

Re: Travel tax. Sometimes the agent overlooks the fact that you didn't pay yet. PAL agents probably see less cases like yours since most PAL tickets are issued in the Philippines and have travel tax paid for already.

Ahhh, yes, PAL express. It was a mess last year, that's why I tried to avoid a PAL express flight with the airport terminal confusion thing. Nobody wants to panic in the midst of a mess that is the Manila traffic to catch a flight!

If bought online directly at the PAL website (either in Philippines or overseas), expect to pay the travel tax. The confusion is when the ticket is bought through an external travel agency, either online or personally. There's no 100% certainty on this. Sometimes they do include the travel tax, sometimes they don't.
