That's what it seems like. And if you own the company, you can't go back and check to see if someone gave you a false SS#. I know many people who are working illegally with a false SS# and as along as they stay where they are, they have nothing to fear. The thing is, lots of them are using a SS# from a dead person. They buy these counterfeit documents from someone who is making them using real SS#'s of people who are dead. That is why the mismatch letters pop up occasionally, although I know quite a few people who worked for 3-5 years before they got a letter. The system is a joke. And they can get an ITIN number to pay taxes while they are illegally employed. The IRS doesn't care as long as they get their money. Great, one branch of the Gov., actually makes it easy for illegals to stay here. I think the average American would be in utter disbelief if they knew what went on in the underground where illegal immigrants are concerned. The illegals know how to get through the system, even to the point of obtaining citizenship with someone else's documents. That one is a bit harder, but it is possible under the right circumstances.

You nailed it. I had several illegals working for me for more than 6 years who never got a letter. Several had wrecks or DUI's. no deportation. You are corect. we can't use E-verify for employees already hired .

and why did I have so many Illegals at one time.. My Boss, who is a rabid Repub, who even had a ####### C fund raiser at his house. Went thru a phase in which he told me to fill the place up with Hispanics cause they were such good workers. I suspect at one time I had 15-20 illegals.

Agree. There are a lot of folks like me who agree with them on many issues but are sick of the religious right. I think a libertarian party that can tone down some of it's more out there ideas might be the future of our country.
