So I applied for citizenship and they sent me a pre-interview letter saying for me to bring certain documents.. .They also ask that I bring my current passport... What are they going to do with it? Will they destroy it in front of me? i'm very worried because I made a trip to go to Canada in Sep.. if i get interviewed in august and they destroy my passport, i will have no travel documents.. can anyone share their experience with me??? thanks!!

They will not take nor destroy the passport. It's probably to verify your travel(from the past).

You will still have problems traveling to Canada if you take the oath before your travel. They will take your green card at the Oath. While you will have your Canadian passport to get in to Canada, you won't have any documentation to prove you are a citizen to return to the USA. You will need to have enough time after you take the oath to apply for a US Passport.

They won't take your passport or green card from you at your interview so traveling won't be a problem unless you take the oath very close to your travel dates.

you will probably have your interview in July or beginning of August. and no they don't take your passport and destroy because its illegal to do that. Every passport belongs to the government that issued that passport. Good luck.

Good to hear about the 45 days. Is that 45 days from NOA to interview? If so, I better start studying. Or is it to bio-metrics. I just sent my package out a week ago and haven't seen the check cashed yet. So still waiting.
