second interview cancelled

My first interview was in nov but it was followed by a cancellation letter.

My second interview is for next week, but I got an email today saying that interview has been descheduled. I called the 800 number, but the guy didn't know much other than that my interview is cancelled. I haven't yet recieved a snail mail.

Now I am nervous that my wife's interview is cancelled for two times already. Do you recommend that I should still go for interview or should I make an INFOPASS appointment.

AOS was filed from New Jersey in May 2006.

thanks and God Bless !

If your CIS office is nearby you may want to show up for that canceled interview, sometimes the system says cancled but your local office fails to get notice and then puts you down as a no-show when you fail to show up.

YuAndDan,

Yes, good references, and do you also have links to some of the threads where the people believed that the interview was cancelled, failed to attend, and then received denial notices for failure to show for the interview?

People who receive those cancellation notices should be very wary.

Same here. First interview in December, cancelled by snail mail (no email). Next date in late January, cancelled by email (no snail mail... yet). If I don't get a snail mail letter, then we are going anyway. I'd hate to be denied for being a "no show" and being unable to prove that my interview was cancelled - an email is not a proof.

We're in the same boat. We only received an email cancellation and online it shows that we have been "descheduled." I'm worried about pmny's 2x cancellations. Definitely make an infopass appt. Also we have decided (many thanks to Vjers!) to go to the interview just to show up and see what happens. I don't trust USCIS with their cancellations and their refusal to give my husband a work permit!

I-485 , I-765, I-130: NOA1 : 1/23/2006

Biometrics 2/23/2006

Temporary EAD given for 1 month ONLY b/c of Infopass appt: 5/1/2006

Went back to renew EAD through Infopass: EAD card was not given "due to reasons we can't disclose"

5/3/2007: Confirmation that EAD is delayed due to background checks. (started to use the senator, ombudsman and was just a royal pain in the neck)

5/30/2007: EAD production ordered (after over 400 days of waiting!!! woo hoo!)

AOS Interview: 5/12/2008!!! FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7/29/2008: card production ordered...918 days..can't wait to see that card!

I haven't recieved any snail mail yet. My nearest office is Cherry Hill and I'll just show up there if I dont' get snail mail cancellation.

Thanks so much for your responses, it makes me feel better :-)

Rumor has it that the AOS are automatically sent without interview these days.

Yes but status on the USCIS site will indicate that it is being sent, not that an interview is being canceled.

What's with this spate of cancellations, or has this always happened?

ahh...I am so mad at USCIS.

sometimes, the case is approved without an interview, but as YuandDan said it will state this online. Let's hope you get the approval! I have heard of one couple where that did happen.

Good luck!

Hi there .. My Sched for interview was cancelled also..came for for K-1 ..Interview date was Nov 6 but they send me a notice of cancellation..untill now i haven't heard anything yet but i did show up on that day.. The lady told me my case was one of those who doesn't require an interview and that she also told me to wait within 3 weeks for the greencard but nothing came yet. So, I called USCIS for follow up last Dec 19- 06 and they told me to wait within 45 days again and if no mail coming within that period i will call them back again because they gave me a referral number ..btw, my case was transfered to CA last Sept 14 .. Hope they will mail mg GC without interview na lol..im tired of waiting ..almost everyday i punch my receipt number online just to check what's goin on.. but no change at all OH GEEEEEZZZ HURRY UP AND WAIT
