I sure wish that Jet Stream map swung down to us in FL. It's 77 here today and I don't think we've had 2 weeks worth of weather below 60 degrees this Winter. I know it's not going to garner any sympathy from those going through a brutal Winter season but keep in mind we go through 8-9 months of miserable heat down here. I used to live in Cleveland, Ohio and I remember those Winters. I don't miss the cold or the snow but I do miss the seasons. Florida has 6 weeks of Spring, 9 months of Summer, and 6 weeks of Fall. :P

Amen!

I'm about an hour north of you up 19.

well it IS a bit cooler today - 73 vs 83 :P

A Trio of Winter Storms

1/17/2007 5:47 AM

An influx of arctic air arrived in the Northeast on Tuesday, returning temperatures to seasonable levels for mid-January. The cold air will remain in place from today into the weekend.

With the cold in place, a pair of storm systems on Friday will bring a mix of wintry precipitation to the East. A storm developing tonight off the Southeast coast will move up the coast through Friday, brushing the mid-Atlantic coast with a mixture of rain and snow Thursday night into Friday morning.

According to the Winter Weather Center, the storm will intensify on Friday, creating the potential for significant snowfall in coastal areas of New England.

Canadian Expert Meteorologist Brett Andersonreports that eastern Quebec and Atlantic Canada will bear the brunt of this storm as it continues to gain strength while sliding past Maine.

The interior Northeast will be spared from Friday's coastal storm; however, heavy lake-effect snowfall will develop with the passing of another cold front. The next blast of arctic air flowing over the long fetch of unusually warm water in lakes Erie and Ontario will set the stage for snow to the lee of the lakes.

The Winter Weather Center is forecasting that southwestern New York and areas north of Syracuse, N.Y., will receive 1 to 2 feet of snow from Friday into the weekend. Heavier squalls will greatly reduce visibility at times, creating hazardous travel conditions in upstate and western New York.

A third storm system currently spinning over northern California will bring another round of wintry weather to Texas and the southern Plains on Friday and Saturday. By Sunday, the system will reorganize over the lower Mississippi Valley.

Continue to check AccuWeather.com throughout the week for updates on the storm that early next week could bring snow to the mid-Atlantic states and southern New England.

It was only 16 degrees when I got up this morning. It had warmed to 18 by the time I left for work. It sleeted/snowed a bit yesterday before the temp dropped. We are supposed to get it tomorrow, Friday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. It looks like, by looking at the long range forecast, it's going to be hitting us pretty good. Yippee! I can't wait. It's about time we had some winter. My bulbs are already coming up. This is in the mountains of NC, for anyone who didn't know.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!
