Have you used Transferwire to move funds from US to UK?

Hello All,

I am looking at the best option to transfer funds from the US to the UK on a monthly basis. I have seen Xoom mentioned on this forum before and have read user reviews which are good but Transferwire had much better user ratings.

Has anyone used Transferwire? If yes, what has been your experience?

If you have another agency that you use for this and you have had a good experience, please share.

No experience with the transfer of funds, but often mentioned in the UK FORUM are xe.com and HiFx.

I have used Transferwise many times to send money from my UK bank account to my son in Finland, my other son in Australia and myself in the US. I love it. Never a problem, the process is easy (I use an app on my phone now), the money usually arrives before their estimated time and the rates are good. Highly recommend.

I also use Paypal to send small amounts to my sister to give to my nephews on their birthdays. That is very quick.

Seconded, I think it's a great service. My first transfer didn't work (due to an error on my part) and they were very communicative and super helpful.

I have used Transferwise from UK to US but not the other way around, I was looking into it and it seems there is a charge to do it that way so it might be worth looking at other options.

I may be late with a reply, but here it is anyway: I used to send my money (usually from UK-US) through CF (Currency Fair), but have just signed up with TR (Transferwise). I have received a free payment and upon taking advantage of it, I can say that I am fully satisfied with their service. The usual transfer fee is similar to that of CF, but it seems as though the conversion rates are better. The best thing I liked, was the fact that my bank in the US, did not take any wire receiving fee - as it was the case when I transferred with CF. The reason the bank didn't charge me was because it was NOT a wire but rather a direct deposit via ACH (Automated Clearing House) which TW uses. I am definitely recommending TW's service.
